So it has begun......

So I am officially the Wife of a trucker as of 11/16/2015, Sorry I did not write sooner but since that day my life has been so so so busy.....

Well that first week was just orientation, physicals, and testing.  It was still tough since he was gone from Monday until Thursday night.   However, it was a nice test run to see how things would go with 5 kids at home and a full time job.   We were lucky enough to have him home for the week of Thanksgiving, only because they could not verify past employment (he was self employed).  They were finally able to get his employment verified and he was on the road with his trainer by December 1st.  It has now been 9 days since we have seen each other, that is the longest we have been apart since we started dating almost 11 years ago.

To say that it has been hard is an understatement.... Not only has it been had physically, it has been hard emotionally.  The kids have been really testing me a lot the last week and a half.  They all have chores and responsibilities and for some reason since dad is gone they seem to have forgotten what needs to be done.  I am trying my best to keep them in line without being the "Bad Guy" all day but I really can't let things fall apart while he is away.  It wont be good for any of us.

Trucking Life ??????

Trucker wife:

I guess I am the wife of a trucker.  Well.......I guess you could say "I am going to be a wife of a trucker".  For the past year my husband has been contemplating a job change.  He has owned his own pool service business for over 9 years now, it has been a good 9 years and we have done pretty well as business owners but, with wanting to move out of California its just not a job that will transfer.  You see, we want to Move to Idaho and there isn't much of a need for pool service there. LOL

Well, like I said he has been thinking of changing jobs and has decided he wants to become a "Trucker".  It has been a crazy process and lots and lots of hard work and not at all easy either. After researching many sites he decided to go to driving school.  Little did we know that driving school would help him get his license but, not really help get a job.  "Sorry..... you have no experience." Yup this is all we hear and boy is it depressing.  Well the business has been sold and we have kids to feed and bills to pay so it looks like he is on to a trucking company that will pay him while he trains.

You mean he has to go on the road for 3 to 4 weeks? And we won't get to see him? Yeah that terrifies me.  We have 5 kids, and not just 5 kids....5 GIRLS!!! Girls from the age of 18 all they way down to 5.  Our oldest in in college and refuses to learn to drive so we get to take her back and forth which is not easy considering we have 2 in high school and 2 in elementary school and i work full time.  It works for us right now, but he is self employed at the moment.  I am really not sure how it will all work once he is on the road but i will try my best and we do have a great support system.  Our long term goal is for me to work less and stay home with the kids more, but living in California it wont be happening any time soon.  I can't wait to be in Idaho...aaaggghhh

Please meet my family, they are the reason we are working so hard.  Hope it all works out and our dreams will come true!
